Analyses of Embankment Dams and Slopes using FLAC2D/3D

This course will lead participants in using FLAC2D and FLAC3D to conduct complex analyses of embankment dams and slopes. The training is composed of multiple presentations and step-by-step tutorials.

  • 16 hours total of flexible, synchronous hands-on training
  • Instructor will be available throughout the instruction period for technical support and to answer questions

  • Tutorial 3: Gravity-driven embankment dam deformations in FLAC2D
  • Tutorial 4: Gravity-driven embankment dam deformations in FLAC3D

Advanced Constitutive Modeling

  • Presentation: Constitutive modeling in FLAC2D
  • Tutorial 5: UBCHYST material parameter calibration
  • Presentation: Constitutive modeling in FLAC3D
  • Tutorial 6: P2PSAND material parameter calibration

Seismic Analyses of Embankment Dams and Slopes

  • Presentation: Earthquake engineering modeling in FLAC2D/3D
  • Tutorial 7: Seismic analysis of embankment dam in FLAC2D
  • Tutorial 8: Seismic analysis of embankment dam in FLAC3D

Each day will be split into short presentations and longer analysis tutorials using FLAC2D/3D.

During the training period, the instructor will be available for follow-up questions regarding FLAC2D/3D and numerical modeling.
